But, there are still hundreds of thousands of Tennesseans who are not connected to reliable broadband or have the digital skills to communicate in this new digital age. That’s why our representatives in Nashville and Washington have stepped up to make the investment our state needs. Now that $500 million is being invested to expand broadband access in unserved areas and to increase broadband adoption, we need experienced broadband providers partnering with local governments to ensure our tax dollars are spent responsibly.
Partnerships between providers and local governments will not only ensure taxpayer funds are invested wisely, but they will also ensure broadband is expanded quickly and that low-income families in under-resourced areas receive free or very low-cost service.
